And as such, I am continuing to develop my portfolio. I looked over my work at the start of the week trying to decide what was needed and what could be used. Unfortunately I have dismissed a lot. If it does not impress me then why would it impress anyone else? So I broke my portfolio down into chunks. I want there to be five projects with five images in each. This should show a broad skill set and limit me to only really nice images. I have titled the five projects thus; 'Character Design', 'Level Design', Asset Creation','Artwork' and finally 'Vehicles'.
At the moment I am bringing a 'Carbon Made' portfolio together so that I have an online presence, which just happens to allow five projects and 39 images free. What luck. I have decided to look at the Vehicle section first as it is bare. I have had many idea for vehicles through the projects but have never seemed to get round to them. It will be a nice change.
My idea has developed from a colleague at work and the Evolution website.

Looking over how they have laid out their on-line portfolio has been a huge help and a great inspiration. They have a really nice style with their artwork and it has sparked my traditional skills to life again. As for the idea? I want to produce five images that form a narrative (something Stas had drummed into us). My previously mentioned colleague is really into car magazines, VW in particular and I always end up reading them on my break. There are stories of how people find these wrecks and bring them back to life. I want to do something similar, but develop it to the future. This should enable me to add some really nice pipes and my own imagination to the car model, and also move it towards the Evolution style that I really like.
I have chosen to use the famous Toyota Celica GT Four rally car as my base.
My idea being that in the year 2050, these cars will be as sought after as a MK1 Ford Escort, and I have stumbled over a rust bucket on E-Bay.

And now I will restore it and with all the new fangled technology available in 2050 to make it a racing machine again.
I think this will give a nice story to the imagery and allow me to push my texturing and modelling skills in Maya.
